WYUR Code Of Conduct
WYUR is a direct affiliate of Yeshiva University. As religious Jews, we hold ourselves to a higher standard than Federal Communications Commission regulations demand. The Governing Board of WYUR has set these standards as follows:
-
Please use common sense. Most problems can be avoided if common sense is used first.
-
No profanity. If a song has profanity, use a "radio cut" (bleeped version) or ask the technical staff to make one for you. If you require more specific descriptions, ask the Governing Board member on duty.
-
We also forbid the use of any of profanity in any language, even if euphemistic.
-
Absolutely no sexually explicit discussions on the air. If a song or clip has sexual overtones, ask the Governing Board member managing your show.
-
No names of listeners or students may be used over the air without explicit prior consent. If you are unsure about what you want to say, check with the Governing Board member on duty for your show. Any complaints resulting from on-air conduct may result in suspension.
What happens if rules are broken?
One infraction will result in a warning by a Governing Board member. Any Governing Board member can issue a warning whenever he or she sees fit.
The Governing Board member on duty has the right to end the program at any point due to a violation of the above standards. This will only occur in cases where more then one warning was given during the same broadcast or the infraction was particularly serious.
-
If a second warning is given to a DJ regarding a violation, a meeting will be called of various board members and the DJ to discuss it. If there is a third warning, the offending DJ (not the show) will be suspended for two shows.
-
If the DJ comes back from his or her suspension and breaks the code of conduct again, his or her spot on the air will be canceled permanently, and he or she will not be allowed as a guest without permission from the Governing Board.
