Audition Requirements
Auditions are conducted as follows:
Bring yourself and everyone who will be a regular on your show (co-hosts, producers - don't worry of you don't have a producer yet) to the station, and have TEN MINUTES of material ready. There, you will have a mock broadcast, which we will record and review. DO NOT count on the ten minutes being filled by music, as you will only be allowed to play thirty seconds of each song. We want to hear YOU, not Queen, Metallica, or Simon & Garfunkel (well, maybe Simon & Garfunkel).
DO NOT sit and explain for ten minutes what your show will be about. You will have plenty of time for that at your first broadcast. This is to show us how you will conduct yourselves on the air during a REGULAR SHOW.
As should be obvious, we are Yeshiva University and hold ourselves to a higher standard of morality. As such, our rules are stricter than the FCC's, and you will all receive a more detailed copy of our Code of Conduct should your show go on the air (a shortened version of the Code of Conduct is available on this website). But for now, simply remember: no cursing or sexual connotations. Lashon Hora is also not acceptable, although we leave that to your judgment for now.
The station is located at the Schottenstein Center, on 185th between Audubon and St. Nick (about 1 block up from Furst Hall, on the same side of the street). Enter at the door near the guard booth and take the elevator to floor 3 (this is not the third floor, just the floor marked 3 - don't ask), and the station is the door on the far corner from the elevator entrance (it has a plaque that says WYUR on the side).
